Disney’s Halloween Treat, for those of you who remember it, was a Halloween compilation special that originally aired on The Wonderful World of Disney back in 1982. It features spooky clips from animated Disney shorts and films, and is hosted by a talking pumpkin who narrates the show and introduces each clip. It’s often confused with the 1983 special, A Disney Halloween, which is very similar and features a lot of the same clips, but is hosted by a talking Magic Mirror. A Disney Halloween is the one I was first introduced to, and is my personal favorite. I’ve cherished the crappy VHS recording of it that I’ve held onto for over 25 years.
Like Witch’s Night Out, neither of these Disney Halloween specials have ever been officially released on DVD, so what you’re looking at here is another bootleg:

This one is a homegrown VHS-transfer copy I made that includes both Disney’s Halloween Treat and A Disney Halloween together on the same disc. The quality is terrible, but I continue to watch it every year just the same. It’s pretty sad what Disney fans have to go through to be able to watch the classics we grew up with.
Disney, if you’re reading this on the off-chance you’re considering a DVD release, just tell me where to throw money.
Watch the original, remastered (sort of)!
An extremely dedicated fan went to great pains to “pseudo-remaster” the original 1982 version of Disney’s Halloween Treat (the one with the talking pumpkin host) by seeking out the best-quality clips he could find and re-editing them all together and cleaning up the audio. He uploaded the whole thing to YouTube, which you can watch in 7 parts starting with this one:

What is 31 DVDs of Halloween?
As a special feature for the Halloween Countdown, I’m showcasing 31 Halloween DVDs from my personal collection. I have a lot of Halloween-related and horror DVDs in general, but for this year’s countdown I’m only going to focus on my absolute favorites–the ones I consider 100% essential for my enjoyment of the holiday.
